For example: Say I am going to Hawaii, I call Delta cargo book a flight for my boards arriving the same time or earlier than me. Go to Cargo part of the airport where I am departing give them a box of 6 boards going to HNL. I go check in and when I arrive in HNL I go to cargo there and pay about $100 and pick my boards up. I think this is way better than paying at least $180 or more or the lady counting your boards saying you have to pay per board they also treat your stuff a lot better and don’t seem to lose your stuff because it is tracked the whole way. I see a lot of people go this route with animals when I am there.

For sure shipping is cheaper than flying with your boards. Just got a new Bill Johnson shipped to Costa Rica for $65. I have heard Cargo is the way to go for animals too. I have always been scared to put my dogs on a “cargo” flight. I’m sure it would be fine. 6 boards for $100 is Awesome!
Heading to Brazil soon I guess?

Thanks Damo…For sure a good thing to know!

  • Mark SD Says:

    Damo / CJ,

Have you thought about picking up some pipe insulation and putting it along the rails and throwing a couple of big industrial sized rubber bands around the board to hold them on? Will protect your board from nose to tail and provide a buffer to protect from impacts. Not sure how big of a box you would need for 6 boards – just droppin’ some knowledge. I think you can buy 6ft sections for $2 at your local home improvement store.

  • whocares? Says:

dude, why haven’t I thought of that?? freakin burned last time going to hawaii $150 for two boards. went round trip, could have gotten a $300 board. jeez… i blame damo for not telling us sooner.

  • Ev Says:

Do you have to ship your boards in a box or can you use a board bag?

  • Ed Says:

Is that working over to Oz ??

  • Damo Says:

You can do international but the airline has to fly there which Delta does fly to OZ now. I think they have to be in a box, but sometimes I just put my packed board bag in the box. The hard part is getting the cargo number that allows you to ship with the company because they say after 9/11 they have to do a back round check before they will give you a number. I use Delta because my friend has a number with his company that ships boards.

Hey damo/ceej u guys see pat gudauskas’ rodeo at srilankan airlines pro? Have u ever thought of doing one in a competition?

  • ceej Says:

deff think about stuff to do in competition all the time.

pats a great surfer and dude.

However i will never practice a move where you grab both of your rails and hang on.

i will give it to Jordy that rodeo he did was pretty sick because he let go early and it was really quick.

but i imagine shady methods were used to insure a certain outcome.isn’t that the same as lobbying or giving money to a certain party/canditade.
