THE “GOODS” in Tahiti

This season I have been comparing the similarities in the Hobgood’s careers…

Both brothers have laid down almost identical careers stats, average heat scores, average season event results, average heat win ratios, and even very similar event results at each of the Dream Tour Locations.

With both brothers surfing in over 100 events each and winning 4 event titles each, the only obvious difference is C.J. has a world title to his mantle… Both have surfed in over 50 final series heats each with Damien having been to 10 finals to win his 4 events and C.J. has been to 7 finals for his 4 wins.

I have been listing the twin’s careers at each venue and working out their average points earned from each of those venues over the course of their careers. Just to see how they compare against each other. I can’t think of any other way to work out who is the Best Good, not that you need to know that, but I do… I can’t even tell them apart when I am with them… So below is the comparison so far in the first 5 events of 2010…

A little while back I posted a comment on the Hobgoods site about the similarities in the twin’s careers…

Both brothers have laid down almost identical careers stats, average heat scores, average season event results, average heat win ratios, and even very similar event results at each of the Dream Tour Locations.

C.J has surfed in 114 Dream Tour Events and Damo celebrated event number 100 at Bells this year… C.J is in his 12th season, Damo is in his 11th.

THE TWO10 SEASON IS NOW HEADING TO EVENT THREE IN BRAZIL

C.J has been to Brazil 10 times before and Damo have surfed in the event 8 times previous to this season. Damo has been to the final 16 five times and C.J six times at this venue…

The “Goods” record in Brazil is hot and cold, Damo has been to the final series twice for a 1st and a 2nd… And C.J has been to the final series three times for 2 x 3rd and a 5th…

At this venue the boys are taking it in turns to turn it on… Only once in the 7 years that they attended the Brazilian event together have they both made the finals. In 2006 when Damien finished runner-up, C.J placed 5th… The year before (2005) when Damo won the event C.J placed 9th. It would be good to see both the Goods in the finals together…

Running List of Average Points from each venue including the 2010 results;

Gold Coast; C.J 524 (best 2 x 5th) … Damo 524 (best 2 x 5th)

Bells Beach; Damo 487 (best 2 x 5th) … C.J 473 (best 1 x 3rd .. 2 x 5th)

Brazil; Damo 612 (best 1 x 1st .. 1 x 2nd) … C.J 574 (best 3 x 3rd .. 1 x 5th)

The score to-date going into event 3 for the best Hobgood at each venue is 2-0 to Damo with event one on the Gold Coast now being shared evenly… C.J will have to beat Damo by 2-3 placings to catch his average points in Brazil…

So who do you think will be the best Good by season’s end, with 7 events left after Brazil, let me know in the comments section.

Good luck to you both, a big result is just around the corner, and needed…
