Three wins, two seconds and a fifth in the two wave scoring era, it is like Federer and his Wimbledon Crowns,
His 6 year domination of the two wave scoring era at this location is like no other.
Kelly is currently on a 12 heat winning streak at Trestles,
He hasn’t lost a heat there since the final against Bede in 2006.
In fact he has only lost 3 heats there in 6 years.
Kelly scored a 10.34 in that final in 2006 against Bede, his lowest score ever at Trestles,
Up until the Final he had averaged just under 16.00 for the first 5 heats of the event.
The other final he lost was in 2004,against Joel Parkinson
Kelly has done all this, I mean dominated the last 6 years at this next event at the ages of.. 31 to 36.
It’s not really a young mans profession when the average age of the top 45 is 27+ and the average age of the top 27 is 30+.
Highest Individual Heat Score @ Trestles
    2008 Round 4
    19.60 .. Kelly Slater USA
Only two scores over 19.00 have been posted @ Trestles…
The other.. Fanning 19.13 in 2003.
Highest Combined Heat Score @ Trestles
    2008 Final
37.60 .. Kelly Slater USA 18.97 def Taj Burrow Australia 18.63
His record in the two wave era @ Trestles is
    2003-5th
    2004-2nd
    2005-1st
    2006-2nd
    2007-1st
    2008-1st
    Average of 2.00
Kelly averages 1066 Dream Tour points every time he has surfed Trestles.
2003-2009 The two wave scoring era.
He has surfed 34 competitive heats at Trestles for 31 wins.
    91.17% win ratio at Lowers
Only 3 losing heats in 6 years
Kelly has never lost a round 1 heat, 6 starts for 6 wins.
Kelly has a great record everywhere, but Trestles is special for Slater.
    Black and White, pre 2003?…
    Thanks Mike Newman RAS stats

If the Rebel Tour goes on with a better system of scoring. He is going to have a huge diference in some events.

  • Andy Says:

the asp should get on board with the rebel tour they need to update kells been wanting a better tour for years where guy(and Girls) get scored better for new moves like airs and that stuff dane an jordy are doing. dane got kind ripped when he did that flip thing at jay bay they didn’t know how to score it. cheers for posting the stats Cj Good luck to you and damo in the event.

  • Damo Says:

RAS, I take it this would have to be the best numbers across the board for a surfer in a event?

“Winning is a physical condition brought on by a state of mind”. The one who “knows” he or she will win, has already won. I know who said it. Now we get to see who believes it. Peace.

The ASP is this generations Luddites.

What is quite amusing is, pro surfing is based on competition. But, the ASP will do everything they can to put an end to a top tour that competes with their lame excuse for a business plan.

Top pro surfers deserve to get the money. They have been held back for way too long.

    Get ya some.

It will be good for everyone.

We don’t still ride wooden logs in loin cloths.

    Progress is good.

  • Andy Says:

@Stylecounceler You hit the nail there bro! time that the surfers had a say on where they surf an what the judging criteria will be… the mens prise moneys not great but look at what the woman get Stuff all and less events.

  • Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer 2010 Says:

    Stoked for Trestles, GL boys.

  • stylecounciler Says:

Yup Andy. The As freaking P has had their way with surfers for way too long. Keeping them down, and underpaid.

Shoots, look at the LPGA. Big money.

Get ya some, boys and girl.

  • Andy Says:

@Stylecounciler, Yeah bro Change is in the Air Asp needs to either embrace it or surfing will move on with out them!

  • Bubb Says:

If Slater gets his 10th then he will focus on this new tour as its creator and ambassador and the ASP will crumble. If he doesn’t get his 10th this year or next year then he will leave the WCT tour, ratings will go way down and the ASP will crumble. Either way something new is bound to occur. Also, the last few title winners (Fannning, Slater, Parko?) have proven through hard training to be elite athletes and elite athletes need an elite tour.
    Later, Aaaaaaaooooooowwwwwwwww!

  • Bubb Says:

I think a league is in order. A pro surfing league where the clothing sponsors are more like teams and the league owns the broadcasting rights. This way the league would make money and fans would have something more tangible to rally behind then 1 surfer. They would have their team. Team Quiksilver would submit their 5 man team for the year with a rotating 6th man that would be brought in as a specialist for certain breaks. Kinda like a designated hitter. Icons like Tom Carroll could be the coach. There would still be an individual world champ and teams would work together the same way Tour de France team does. The rivalries would heat up, trades could be made, bench clearing brawls would inevitably occur, and throw in cheerleaders in bikinis to add to the show.
