@ Dustin,Parko did NOT win the trials at J.Bay. He was a Billabong pick. Bruno won the trials at heavy 12ft+ Teahupo and went to win the competition. No other has done it. For the record (there is a difference between getting a wildcard because of your sponsor, and winning a trials, against folk like J. O’brien)

And my point was why generalize so much. Like any other main surfing nation, Brazil has its share of crazy big riders (Burle, Resende, etc…) WCT and free surfers. To say that all brazilians are “claimers” is very short sighted. And, for the record, I believe that Adriano is way too much on his claims, but he is just another brazo. That’s all…

Kellys beer in the Barrel at Chopes was a pretty good claim. Your right Danes a pretty mellow sort he dosen’t seem to rate himself all that much even though he Rips!
Michel’s Barrel i don’t remember if he did! was worth a claim though!
can’t wait to see AI Back on tour next year!

@andy nz. Nah man i dont remember that, but Dane would never claim anything… he’s just not that type of dude. Did Michel Bourez claim that 10 point triple barrel a j-bay??? cant remember, but that was worthy of a claim. i think another one of my fav claims was Nathan Hedge at pipe when he got a last minute wave to win the heat and requalify (although i think he still missed the cut) but he came in and kissed the sand at pipe, pretty legendary. thats raw emotion right there

@dustin…you make some good points bro! i mean yeah fully if you just got spat out of a sick deep barrel then fully claim away! but Adriano point in case that heat agaistn slater at Mundaka that was a joke he surfed shit and was claiming every thing it was a joke. I say surfed shit because i have seen him surf a whole lot better and i honestly like the guy and think hes a great surfer. i was blowen away by his surfing this year at the gold coast event when they shifted to Kirra it was kinda heavy close out but he was ripping the crap out of it!
did you see that Barrel that Dane got at jay bay this year was a really deep one and didn’t look like he was going to make it i don’t think he even claimed that! (could be wrong)

no offense @armlock. i said i respect all brazilian surfers, shit, they/re ten times the surfer i am. but if you watch the tour, there arnt many hawaiians, Seppos, ozzies, or euros claiming everysingle wave they catch. obviously if you get the wave you need in the heat of battle then its just pure emotion like scoring a big goal in soccer or hockey and celbrating. But seriously, ive seen Jihad and Adriano, raoni monterio (sP) was the WORST!!!! he would claim a friggin bottom turn. Still, they made the tour and i wait tables for a living so who the hell am i!!!! haha
