ex.1// vikings vs. saints playoff game bad calls in overtime keep vikings out of super bowl NFL now say referee calls made on field were wrong (in particular the pass interference call that led to game-winning field goal)

this is related in the debate of. trying to legitimize surfing as a SPORT

ex.2// damo vs. dingo leash pull keeps damo from progressing in pipemasters ASP needs to see too

good comments on this one, wanted to ramble on a little

Hey Ceej,
I think the solution, like everything else these days its seems, is to go wireless. I'll contract XM to develop a wireless tethering system to go along with their tangle free and quick release options. it will probably retail for about $20k.

The biggest issue for me is Dingo's "I had priority" innocence plea and his self empowering decision to "not let the guy without priority have a wave." Dingo is whack SOLELY because there was no intereference call on Damo.

Maybe the solution is kind of like the challenge flag in football. every competitior gets one judges challenge per year which he can exercise before the end of the heat by a hand signal. This would force the judges to closely evaluate the situation after speaking to the surfers, make a clear decision and then clarify publicly to competitors and spectators. How much attention could the judges pay to the situation without a fair break in the action to allow for proper deliberation.

@Samsonator. Before you choke on all three of the Aussie champion's spigots you may want to let the comments sink in a bit. This forum is regarding a dirty move by ONE of the surfers who couldn't man up through the rigorous battling that happens in some heats. The true professional is a warrior that uses all LEGAL methods at his disposal, especially in wave starved heats, to win. The ONLY Aussie comeback on all these forums, such as FS, is crying. I saw a river of tears when Taj lost to Kelly at Trestles in '08. Taj never really put it on the line in that heat so he lost. Kelly's repertoire was so far beyond Taj's flicky half turns in that heat. But it was sooo hard to see through all the bitter Aussie tears. You KNOW Dingoberry is dirty, and that he's been dirty long before Damien met him in this heat, so save your breath. Bottom line, he was Burkharted becuase his competitor was scared he would lose to a more talented competitor. Otherwise, he should have let him drop in, or better yet, dropped in himself, since the Aussie's claim he could've caught that wave, and caused an interference.

@ Samsonator, no problem with the australians who win, they are actually stand up guys, only problem is the ones who yank leashes or leggies to do it.

Dry your eyes girls. Damo hassled him the entire heat and then tried to snake him at the end. It was embarrassing, got what he deserved. That's why priority exists, any competitive surfer with half a brain would have used their priority there. You're attacking the character of one of the nicest blokes on the tour. I think the real issue here is that it was an Australian World Champion, Australian Triple Crown and an Australian Pipe Masters. Maybe next time ladies, harden up and quit with the petty comments.
